Law 10.973/2004 saw the creation of Technological Innovation Centers (NITs), with the aim of equalizing the way in which institutional innovation policies are handled, giving the respective Centers greater autonomy to act. When it comes to innovation in the light of ICTs in the Campo das Vertentes mesoregion in the state of Minas Gerais, it was confirmed that there is no mapping of innovation in this mesoregion. The aim of this study was to map the innovation generated in public and private Higher Education Institutions based in the cities of the Campo das Vertentes mesoregion of Minas Gerais. It is a quantitative study, based on the application of a semi-structured questionnaire to 6 managers of the NITs of Higher Education Institutions located in the Campo das Vertentes mesoregion. Nine higher education institutions were identified in the Campo das Vertentes mesoregion of the state of Minas Gerais. Of this total, 6 have a Technological Innovation Center in place. It was found that 83% of the institutions have applications for intellectual property protection. Only 33% have technology transfer contracts. The results show that HEIs based in the Campos das Vertentes mesoregion still face major challenges when it comes to developing innovation. It is necessary to build a culture of innovation, with technology dissemination policies that reach out to the entire academic community, as well as actions aimed at promoting innovation. A partir da Lei no. 10.973/2004 veio a criacao dos Nucleos de Inovacao Tecnologica (NITs), com o proposito de equiparar a forma de tratamento das politicas institucionais de inovacao, dando aos respectivos Nucleos, maior autonomia de atuacao. Em se tratando de inovacao a luz das ICTs na mesorregiao Campo das Vertentes no Estado de Minas Gerais confirmou-se que nao ha mapeamento da inovacao nesta mesorregiao. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar o mapeamento da inovacao gerada nas Instituicoes de Ensino Superior publicas e privadas sediadas nas cidades da mesorregiao Campo das Vertentes de Minas Gerais. E um estudo de carater quantitativo, com base na aplicacao de um questionario semiestruturado junto a 6 gestores dos NIT das Instituicoes de Ensino Superior, localizadas na mesorregiao Campo das Vertentes.
