Description
Summary:The aim of this research was to find out about the state of the art of academic production dealing with mergers and acquisitions related to value creation. Empirically, it sought to map and analyze existing scientific productions on M&A operations and their consequences for the firm, such as value creation, cost reduction and profitability. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, a survey and analysis of studies indexed in the Web of Sciense[R] database published between 1972 and 2021 was carried out. Among the journals surveyed, there was a predominance of corporate finance, business, management and economics. The most influential countries in the field are the United States with 57 published works, followed by the United Kingdom with 29, China with 26, Germany with 11, South Korea with 10 and Spain with 10. Brazil ranks 14th with 3 publications. In summary, it can be seen that mergers and acquisitions are increasingly being used as a strategy for entering new markets, gaining synergies, portfolio facilitation, diversification, access to technological assets and reducing taxes.
