Description
Summary:The positive trend registered in recent years does not overcome and should not ignore or camouflage a worrying and socially compromising reality, which is permanent malnutrition. This presents itself as a serious problem in Portuguese-speaking countries and implies that urgent measures must be taken for the due combat and the necessary prevention. Faced with this problem, the present article has as its central scope to point out the importance of family farming and agroecology in food production in Brazil and in the Lusophone countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, as a mitigating strategy for the aforementioned problem. Therefore, this research adopted the bibliographic procedural method with a qualitative approach in relation to the problem and an exploratory study of a basic nature in relation to the intended objectives. Regarding the collection of information, the literature review technique was adopted. As for the results, it is concluded that in the Portuguese-speaking countries studied, although the family farmer represents the majority in rural work, he still faces difficulties in accessing credits and technologies, being extremely important the existence of public policies aimed at this reality. In turn, agroecology is the instrument that adds to family production, the enhancement and improvement of the product, respecting ecological interactions and traditional knowledge that are transmitted between generations.
