Description
Summary:In a scenario where agriculture is and will be severely affected by climate change resulting from global warming, Brazilian coffee production is emerging--a relevant product for the country's economy--, which very soon may have its production capacity seriously impacted by the climate. As objectives of this work, it was established to trace a future perspective panorama to the management of coffee production in the main producing regions of Brazil in the face of climate change scenario; understand the main challenges presented to coffee growing from a perspective of environmental conditions influenced by climate change; to propose adaptive measures capable of being adopted by coffee growers to mitigate the negative impacts of the main challenges arising from the climate change process, with a view to favoring the safeguarding of food security in the country. The methodological framework adopted was a quali-quantitative research of a basic nature and exploratory character, through a bibliographical and documental review. As main results, it was predicted that the zoning of areas suitable for coffee cultivation should be drastically reduced in the coming years, with the grain producing regions being directed to restricted mountainous areas and wide latitudes, which would reduce the productive capacity of the sector and increase the price of the product on the market, a situation that would possibly exacerbate the issue of food insecurity in the country. In view of this, a guide was developed with adaptive measures to be adopted by coffee growers in mitigating the negative impacts arising from climate change. Finally, it was concluded that in addition to being a profitable agricultural product for the country's economy, coffee presents itself as one of the most frequently consumed foods by Brazilians, promoting any events that may harm their production the issue of first attention in relation to the national food security.
