Unusual complexes formed by the early lanthanides with 2,6-bis(5,6-dialkyl-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)-pyridines

The addition of lanthanide(III) nitrates (La–Sm) to the actinide(III) extracting agents, 2,6-bis(5,6-dialkyl-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)-pyridines in a 1:1 ratio, results in the crystallisation of unusual dimeric complexes [Ln 2(L 1) 2(NO 3) 6] as well as more usual mononuclear complexes.
