Summary:One new dimeric manganese(III) complex [MnL(H 2O)] 2(ClO 4) 2 · H 2O (1) where [L= N, N ′-bis(2-hydroxyacetophenylidene)-1,2-diaminopropane] has been synthesised and characterised by spectroscopic and electrochemical study, and the single crystal structure of the complex was determined. One new dimeric manganese(III) complex [MnL(H 2O)] 2(ClO 4) 2 · H 2O (1) where [L= N, N ′-bis(2-hydroxyacetophenylidene)-1,2-diaminopropane] has been synthesised and characterised by spectroscopic and electrochemical study, and the single crystal structure of the complex was determined. The crystal structure features the presence of two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The dimeric unit is formed by a double Mn–O bridge of one molecule with its centrosymmetric homologue. Low temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements show a ferromagnetic intra-dimer interaction.
