Tunable 3D dielectric resonator using a thermoconductive VO2 material

A temperature-based tunable dielectric resonator is presented showing a tunability of 20 MHz around 11.8 GHz when heated with a drop of the quality factor from 4000 to 286. The puck-shaped alumina resonator contains a thin sapphire sheet coated with VO2. An overview of the thermoconductive VO2 mater...

Description
Summary:A temperature-based tunable dielectric resonator is presented showing a tunability of 20 MHz around 11.8 GHz when heated with a drop of the quality factor from 4000 to 286. The puck-shaped alumina resonator contains a thin sapphire sheet coated with VO2. An overview of the thermoconductive VO2 material used is presented. The design and simulations of the resonator are presented along with the fabricated structure and measurements.
