Summary:While the French and foreign publics have celebrated Cyrano de Bergerac for more than a century, this play and others by its author have been subject to often virulent attacks. This work examines the aesthetic and/or political attacks that came from the Symbolist movement, the Nouvelle Revue française, the nationalist right, and the progressive left. Si le public français et étranger plébiscite Cyrano de Bergerac depuis plus d’un siècle, cette pièce et les autres de son auteur ont fait l’objet d’attaques souvent virulentes. L’on examine ici celles, esthétiques et/ou politiques, venues de la mouvance symboliste, de la Nouvelle Revue française, de la droite nationaliste et de la gauche progressiste.
