Summary: | A new aryl bis‐sulfoxide derivative was designed, synthetized and structurally characterized in solution and in solid state. The chemical behaviour of the newly obtained 1,3‐(para‐tolylsulfinyl)‐5‐tert‐butyl‐benzene 2 was evaluated towards tin, silicon and phosphorus containing derivatives. In the case of Sn(II) derivative, the potential of bis‐sulfoxide 2 as a pincer type ligand was suggested.
A new bis‐sulfoxide derivative was isolated, characterized and used as ligand to obtain tin(II), silicon and phosphorus containing compounds. The unique structure of the bis‐sulfoxide, thanks to the strong ortho director effect of the two sulfinyl groups, facilitates selective deprotonation at the C(1)–H in presence of LDA. This particularity of the bis‐sulfoxide makes it a promising new ligand in the stabilisation of new organometallic and coordinative compounds. |
