Summary: | The gallbladder volvulus is a rare clinical condition and approximately 500 cases have been published since the first case reported by Wendel et al. in 1898 [1]. This complication mainly affects the elderly with a female predominance. The axial volvulus of the gallbladder around its cystic pedicle, leading to gallbladder ischemia, is due to an anomaly of its fixation secondary to a long or inexistent cholecystic mesentery. |
