Description
Summary:The inadequate disposal of industrial effluents is one of the main causes of the release of toxic, chemically complex and non-biodegradable substances into water bodies. Therefore, Advanced Oxidative Processes (AOPs), technologies responsible for oxidizing pollutants through the generation of oxygenated radicals, have gained prominence in wastewater treatment as they are considered promising, effective and innovative methods. In this work, a bibliometric analysis was carried out on the “Web of Science” database with the aim of verifying the relevance and advances of the topic in question. Initially, the search strategy was to use the keyword “advanced oxidation processes” and then the word “water treatment” was added. China was the country with the highest number of publications before and after the insertion of the second term and the Engineering research area was configured as an area of greater relevance. After that, it was added separately in the search for several POAs together with the two words mentioned above, with the aim of determining the most relevant techniques, where the 3 techniques that presented the most expressive results were highlighted, namely Foto-Fenton, H2O2/ UV and heterogeneous photocatalysis. Finally, a SWOT matrix was created containing positive and negative points present in a group of selected articles.
