Description
Summary:Specific features of the domain structure of piezoceramic crystallites are considered. The crystallites consist of structural domains (twins) and electric domains. The second order structural twins which are not observed in crystals are distinctive features of the domain structure of the crystallites. Ferroelectric ceramics, namely, BaTiO3, PbTiO3 and Pb(ZrxTi1-x)O3 with different grain dimensions (1-50 micron), density and porosity were studied. Solid state sintering, hot-pressing as well as gradient sintering were used to obtain these ceramics. The domain structure was studied by both X-ray analysis and etching of polished cuts or fractures of the ceramic samples. SEM or the one-step platinum-carbon replica method and TEM scope were used to obtain microphotographs of surfaces. 6 refs.
