Summary:Ultrasounds excite uranium: Uranyl ions exhibit an ultrabright multibubble sonoluminescence in cooled H3PO4 solutions exposed to high‐frequency ultrasound. The mechanism of UO22+ excitation seems to vary with uranium concentration: sonophotoluminescence dominates in diluted solutions, and collisional excitation would contribute in concentrated UO22+ solutions (see figure).
