Study of possibility of soft X-ray generation in experiments with magnetocumulative generators

We discuss soft X-rays obtained with a pulse duration of tens of nanoseconds and a power of 5-10 MJ using a magnetocumulative generator explosive current open switch (EOS). Description
Summary:We discuss soft X-rays obtained with a pulse duration of tens of nanoseconds and a power of 5-10 MJ using a magnetocumulative generator explosive current open switch (EOS). Creation of such an X-ray source is intended within the limits of the EMIR program. The level of accessible liner kinetic energies on each stage is estimated using semi-empirical models of EOS operation and calculations of the liner dynamics in the framework of the KART model, describing the Rayleigh-Taylor instability in wire arrays. The parameters of the generated X-rays are estimated in the hydrodynamic approximation taking into account multigroup radiation transfer.
