Description
Summary:This paper introduces a modified version of the family of cyclic algorithms for the computationally efficient synthesis of Multi-Tone Sinusoidal Frequency Modulated (MTSFM) waveforms with desirable correlation properties. The Cyclic Algorithm New (CAN) is a structured phase retrieval algorithm that synthesizes discrete-time sequences possessing desirably low auto-correlation sidelobes. These sequences are often utilized as the discrete set of phases in a Phase-Coded (PC) waveform. The MTSFM is a constant envelope parameterized FM waveform model whose design coefficients are adjusted to finely control the resulting waveform's correlation properties. Modifying several steps of the CAN algorithm facilitates computationally efficient synthesis of spectrally compact MTSFM waveforms with low auto-correlation sidelobes. The resulting MTSFM waveform correlation properties are competitive with their CAN -derived PC waveform counterparts while also possessing a substantially more compact spectral shape.
