Description
Summary:The World Health Organization estimates that 287 million of the 9.2 billion people on the planet are blind. They still struggle to complete their daily tasks, so it is important to take the necessary steps with the help of new technology. It is intended to be able to read and read written text. Such inventions provide a solution to motivate visually impaired students to complete their education despite the difficulties. Its main goal is to develop new ways for blind people to read texts and facilitate their communication. The reader's first task is to scan text images, convert them to spoken text, and listen to the audio through headphones or speakers connected to the reader. Text in images was recognized using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology with OpenCV and Tesseract. Text-to-speech (TTS) technology was used to convert text to speech. However, the reader has some drawbacks, such as: Only English is supported, and the minimum font size to capture images is 16. In the future, it is possible to support multiple languages and improve the design.
