Summary: | Thanks to the railway, it is possible to improve the transport situation and also reduce the impact of land transport on the environment. Electric railway systems, on the other hand, degrade power quality at the point of connection to the electric grid. Due to the influence of the traction converters, the current drawn by electric locomotives has a high harmonic distortion. This can affect the accuracy of the energy consumption measurement. Therefore, in this paper, different series of electric locomotives are analyzed in terms of the harmonic spectrum of the current drawn. The harmonic spectrum of each locomotive is derived from real measurements in a power transformer station. The distorted current waveforms are then used to verify the accuracy of the energy meter. The accuracy of the measured energy meter was tested using a calibration kit. |
