Description
Summary:This work focuses on a grid-connected solar-wind hybrid system with a charging station for electric vehicles. The charging system is powered by a combination of solar, wind, and grid power. The system works in an integrated way to reduce our reliance on conventional energy. When solar power is available and desired wind speed is also available, the Electric Vehicle (EV) will draw the necessary amount of power from PV arrays and wind turbines for charging, with any excess power being fed into the grid. When solar energy and desired wind speed are unavailable, the grid will supply the power required for charging. In addition, solar and wind power will be provided to the grid when there is no requirement for power by the EV. MPPT algorithm has been used to extract the maximum power from the PV arrays, and a power management scheme has been used to switch between the different modes of operation. The effectiveness of the developed system has been tested using real-time simulation with the help of the OPAL-RT tool.
