Summary: | The objective of the study is to analyze the effect of the control structure in a parallel reaction, specifically in the production of ethylene oxide in a tubular reactor, on the selectivity and yield. The results indicate that the location of the secondary temperature control loop influenced the performance and selectivity of the feedback control. Despite this, it was observed that the choice of temperature sensor position did not have a significant impact on selectivity and performance. Likewise, they were affected. These findings suggest that the control structure is a critical factor in ethylene oxide production, and can have a positive or negative effect on both aspects. |
