Summary: | The purpose of the Internet of Things is to gain momentum in all fields and to link devices equipped with sensors, processing power, software, and other technologies that can communicate and share data with other hardware through the Internet or other communications networks. This paper presents some different types of topologies used for CoAP protocol and analyzes their performance. The topologies we used for this paper are the following: box topology, linear topology, elliptical topology, and random topology. Our study shows differences of about 17% in power consumption concerning the topology chosen, which is not neglectable for the Internet of Things domain, where power consumption is a sensitive issue. |
