Summary: | Different from those existing schemes, in our previous work (presented in CACS 2022), a control area network (CAN) bus based network topology was proposed for structural health monitoring (SHM). A 154cm long beam-type steel structure was built up for experimental verification of the proposed diagnosis platform. Instead of the results from the axial vibration data only, in this paper we extend the previous study to cover the planar effect on the testing beam. The whole area of the proposed testing beam is divided into three regions. Nine sets of the designed vibration module formed as a 3 by 3 mesh are set up on each region for vibration testing. It is observed from the experimental data that the frequency spectra of the data collected by nine sets of sensor module on the same region are almost identical for each different testing. Case studies of the testing beam by placing sensing modules on three different regions are also set up to verify the validity of the designed platform, which demonstrate the success of the proposed design. |
