Summary:This paper describes the Energy Transition (ET) paradigm, its dimensions, and the contribution of digitalization and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to increase the energy efficiency of energy systems [1]. It starts from a literature review to establish theoretical links between these concepts, identify contemporary problems that evidence the need for ET in the global context, and the contribution of ICT use to the development of ET. After synthesizing the strategies proposed to potentiate ET at the global level, the normative progress and the profile of ET projects in Colombia are shown, in order to identify fields of potential use and ICT application projects for ET. Finally, local alternatives for financing projects in this field are identified, as well as a set of opportunities for project management in the ET era.
