Summary: | The paper proposes an alternative approach that provides high-precision calibration of built-in angle encoders included in angle measuring setups using available control means. The approach is based on the complex use of modern variants of realization of cross- and autocalibration methods. It is shown that algorithmically the procedure of cross-calibration of one scale with the help of another is identical to the procedure of autocalibration in multi-headed angle encoders whose readout heads are localized according to the prescriptions of basic methods, including the Watanabe multi-combination method. It is shown that the uncertainty of calibration of angle sensors of the built-in type can be reduced from the initial level of ±1.3ʺ, which characterizes the instrumental error of manufacturing the scale of the controlling sensor, to the required level, estimated as ±0.02ʺ, in just 15 comparisons of all scale bars of the controlled sensor with all scale bars of the four-headed controlling sensor, taken as a standard of comparison. |
