Description
Summary:This article presents about a reconfigurable circularly polarized antenna by using the BST (barium strontium titanate) tunable capacitor. The antenna design based on the 4-arm clover leaf structure with some modifications at a center substrate to integrate the BST tunable capacitor. Thanks to a voltage controller part inserted at the antenna balun, the tunable capacitor can be adjusted. Then, by varying the BST capacitor value, the operation frequency band can be extended while the antenna axial ratio is maintained below -3dB in all bands. An prototype is fabricated and measured to confirm this design approach. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has the impedance bandwidth of 450 MHz (17.6%) with the capacitor value between 0.8pF to 3.2pF. Thanks to the omnidirection radiation pattern and circularly polarization feature, this proposed antenna is suitable for the IoT Base Station application, especially in the indoor environment.
