Description
Summary:As the quality and accuracy of remote sensing instruments available improves., the ability to quickly process remotely sensed data is in increasing demand. A side effect of this increased quality and accuracy is a tremendous increase in the amount of computational power required by modern remote sensing applications. In this work, a problem solving environment for parallel computing named the component-based environment for remote sensing (CERSe) is proposed. CERSe's runtime engine and graphical user interface are presented. Performance results with and without USC of a parallel file system are given which show near linear speedup can be achieved through I/O tuning.
