Description
Summary:System reliability optimization combines the rigorous disciplines of probability theory and optimization. While there are many relevant problem formulations depending on user requirements, a typical problem is to maximize system reliability or minimize a cost rate, by determining the best system structure or architecture and/or maintenance plan, given system-level constraints. These are both practical and difficult problems representing a challenge to analysts and researchers to determine the most effective models and algorithms to produce optimal designs. Throughout the history of reliability engineering, since it has been considered as a formal discipline or science, the system reliability optimization problem has received much attention and been the subject of very meaningful and impressive research. In this paper, there is high-level review and history of system reliability optimization.
