Description
Summary:This paper discusses the development of a multiplication-based random number generation algorithm to recognize Hiragana and Katakana letters in a game. The study aims to test the performance of the random number generation algorithm and measure its usability in a letter recognition game. The testing results across four game levels revealed the following accuracies: 84% for level 1, 84% for level 2, 82% for level 3, and 80% for level 4. The decline in performance across levels can be attributed to the similarity in the seed values generated by the game maker studio function, resulting in the same initial random number seed for calculations. This leads to the emergence of patterns that can affect letter recognition by players. Additionally, the usability testing involving 30 participants aged 14 and above yielded a usability score of 83.53%, indicating that the educational game for Hiragana and Katakana letter recognition falls into the category of highly usable. In conclusion, the multiplication-based random number generation algorithm used in the game demonstrates satisfactory results in recognizing Hiragana and Katakana letters. However, further improvements are necessary in managing the seed values to avoid the emergence of patterns that can impact the game's quality.
