Summary: | LoRa networks, a part of Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN), offer long-range communication with low power consumption but have a limited data rate (27 kbps. Which makes it not suitable for applications requiring high data throughput. This paper examines the performance of image transmission over LoRa networks using two algorithms, base64 encoding and JPEG compression. Base64 produces high-quality images with a 99% packet reception rate, but it fails to decode images with errors. In contrast, the JPEG compressor successfully decodes images even with a lower reception rate and offers faster transmission times for smaller images than the base64 algorithm. |
