Description
Summary:Radio Frequency Energy Harvesting (RFEH) is a potential method for achieving self-sustained operation of 10T-enabled sensors. In this work, we first demonstrate the challenges encountered in retrieving power from RF ambient sources, and antenna design trade-offs to tackle the aforementioned challenges. Furthermore, circuit modifications are done and shown to reduce the power consumption of the loT-enabled sensors. Lastly, a proof-of-concept of successfully powering loT-capable Texas Instrument CC1350 SOC sensor node from a dedicated RF source along with a high gain horn antenna is demonstrated. The RFEH system is successfully tested and demonstrated by transmitting temperature data wirelessly from the RF -powered CC1350 board (transmitter) to the computer-connected CC1350 board (receiver).
