Summary:The paper will discuss an automated decision approach that was employed at a multi-building Fab during a ramp-up phase to balance compatible capacities in two buildings of the Fab. The two buildings are situated at some distance from each other and not integrated with an Automated Material Handling System (AMHS); hence, Work In Process (WIP) movement has to be decided in a very careful manner. The paper will discuss the decision challenges involved, possible solution approaches, and the chosen solution with results.
