Summary: | In this paper, a approach with a tunable null width of the radiation pattern is proposed and validated on a linear patch antenna array. The optimal excitation distribution (OED) is optimized by using the extended method of minimum power transmission efficiency. A generalized wireless power transmission (WPT) system is set up by using the pre-extracted electric fields of each antenna element on a far-field arc. By minimizing the power transmission efficiency (PTE) of the WPT system, a null pattern of the antenna array can be obtained. By selecting electrical fields of multiple spots covering a wide angular space, wide null pattern can be obtained. The null width is steered by the angular space of selected spots. Simulated and tested results indicate that the realized null patterns agree well with the predetermined ones. |
