Description
Summary:The article presents the implementation of the IEC 61850 protocol in a SCADA applied to the IEEE 14-bus system in the protection laboratory of the Salesiana Polytechnic University. The system encompasses overcurrent and distance IEDs, which are interconnected through a switch to an RTU. Using an Omicron CMC356 test equipment, fault currents and voltages are injected to validate GOOSE communication between IEDs, and a low voltage contactor is also used to validate the circuit breaker fault. The MMS and Sampled Values communication is validated between each IED and presenting the different variables on the designed SCADA screens. The methodology presented serves as a guide to validate protection and communication tests in substations under the IEC 61850 protocol.
