Summary: | Sleep disorders are prevalent and can significantly impact an individual overall health and well-being. The accurate and timely diagnosis of these disorders is crucial for effective treatment. This paper explores the development of a portable electroencephalography (EEG) as a promising tool for monitoring and diagnosing sleep disorders. The exploration includes primarily the hardware and software which based on the previous EEG studies we have engaged in, and the hardware part is focused particularly in this paper. Although the prototype looks still rough, it already functions well in its primary on-line test. EEG signals were acquired by it reliably in comparing to the gold standard Polysomnography (PSG). Case studies are examined based on the signals extracted from the developed device. The portability of the developed EEG devices enables non-intrusive, real-time monitoring of brain activity during sleep, providing valuable insights into sleep architecture and identifying abnormalities. |
