Summary: | The optical properties of tissues are important information that not only has independent diagnostic value, but also allows planning various types of laser-induced effects on biological tissues. The current trend towards personalized medicine poses the task of determining the optical properties of tissues directly at the time of diagnostic or therapeutic intervention. In this work, we propose an approach to simultaneous measurement of the spectra of diffuse reflectance and transmittance of light through intestinal wall tissue, based on the use of two fiber-optic devices for supplying broadband radiation both from the side of the intestinal lumen and from the outer side of the intestinal wall, from which diffusely scattered light is also recorded. To restore the optical properties of these tissues, it has been proposed to use a combination of methods such as the Kubelka-Munk model and Monte Carlo numerical simulation. This method was implemented both in laboratory conditions using the approach of two integrating spheres, and in clinical conditions using fiber-optic spectroscopy, with subsequent comparison of these methods. |
