Summary: | In this paper, the design and simulation of two different polymeric photonic crystal resonators (PCRs) is presented. It is shown through FEM simulations that despite the generally low permittivity of polymers in the terahertz band, it is possible to realize a complete, or at least partial, electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) in one- and two-dimensional photonic crystal (PC) structures utilizing a low-dielectric loss polymer. It is further shown that the EBG of the PC structures are sufficient to confine a resonant mode and realize one- and two-dimensional PCRs with a moderately high quality-factor. |
