Summary: | As large, complex, highly reliable technical equipment, electric multiple units (EMUs) require long-term maintenance to ensure safety and reliability during service. Because the maintenance cost of an EMU accounts for a large proportion of its entire life-cycle cost, scientific planning of the maintenance interval is vital to reduce maintenance cost and improve maintenance efficiency. This paper proposes a reliability modeling and evaluation approach for EMUs under multi-level maintenance scheduling, with the purpose of extending maintenance intervals and saving maintenance resources. A comprehensive reliability model is established via the mixture distribution approach; accordingly, the point estimation of the mixture distribution model is realized using the EM algorithm. The model feasibility and rationality are highlighted through an engineering case study with actual EMU failure/operational data, where the rationality of extending the maintenance interval (for Level 3 maintenance level) is demonstrated. |
