Summary: | Maximum torque per current (MTPA) and other optimal curves have been recently extended to multiphase machines. Since multiphase machines have more degrees of freedom than their three-phase counterparts, the solution exhibits many more regimes of optimal control. In this paper, we study the optimal current setpoints for a five-phase induction machine. Due to missing flux from permanent magnets, the operating regimes differ from those of synchronous machines. Namely, the optimal position of the third harmonic is often symmetric with the first. Hence, the number of regimes is lower than that of the synchronous machine. |
