Description
Summary:This paper presents an antenna module with an integrated microwave filter built on a multilayer printed circuit board (PCB) with the use of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology. It consists of a triple-layer cavity resonator with coupling irises and a slot antenna edged on the top layer of a structure. This module is designed to operate in the Long Term Evolution (LTE) Band7 frequency band with a 70 MHz bandwidth. The module can be easily implemented into antenna arrays any configuration with frequency and polarization diversity due to its high isolation and good suppression of out-of-band radiation. The proposed filtering antenna is fabricated and tested. Simulation and measurement results with close agreement between them are presented in this letter. The maximum measured gain of the prototype is 3.64 dBi at 2.655 GHz. A novel technique of fabricating SIW filtering antenna is described. The synthesis methodology for filtering antennas is also proposed.
