Summary: | In this paper we surveyed the state-of-the-art on cross-domain authentication across multiple Wireless Ad Hoc Networks (WANETs) operational sectors, compared the different use cases and policies, and proposed a novel cross-domain authen-tication approach. The impact of the different operational sectors and their relation with the interoperability and authentication policies were assessed. The analysis shows that the particular characteristics of each operational sector do not influence the de-sign of the solutions. We categorised the interoperability policies found in the literature into 3 distinct groups and identified the relations between the interoperability and authentication policies. We describe and discuss a novel cross-domain authentication use case in WANETs requiring interoperability and authentication policies that differ from the ones present in the literature. |
