Summary: | For transformer designers, simplified and accurate calculations of the various transformer parameters are extremely important. Different software's are being used for the design of the transformers. This paper describes the development and use of the Finite Element Method (FEM) as a decision aid in transformer design. The evaluation of losses, leakage reactance, and electromagnetic forces prior to the design of the different types of transformers is a challenging task for transformer designers. This work aims to determine the application of the finite element analysis in calculating losses, leakage reactance, and electromagnetic forces for various types of transformers, and to serve as a decision-making tool for transformer manufacturing. This paper critically examines the use of finite element analysis in evaluating the transformer's various important parameters. |
