Summary: | This paper presents the modelling of a multilayer printed rectangular antenna which can operate in the L and S-band regions. A mathematical empirical formulation relating the substrate relative permittivity and thickness with the antenna size and frequency of operation for the tri-operation antenna is developed using MATHCAD software. Numerical simulations are carried out using Micropatch and Sonnetlite software. Two feeding mechanisms are employed, namely the radiating side feed and nonradiating side feed. The antennas are reasonably well matched at their corresponding frequency of operations. The operating bandwidth decreases as the frequency increases. The most suitable size of the radiating patch obtained is 48 mm by 37 mm. |
