Description
Summary:This paper presents an inexpensive technology and method for integrated sensing networks that can be fabricated directly on construction materials as a part of existing manufacturing processes for the purpose of instrumenting closed (or partially closed) spaces. The sensors can also be placed manually. The goal of the sensing could be: (1) environmental, e.g., temperature, (2) safety monitoring of toxic gases, or (3) other applications such as security or intrusion. In each application, there is both a goal, such as an ideal or maximum level of the quantity being sensed or measured, and a proximate location of the measurement and/or alarm level.
