Optical 3R regeneration in 40 Gbit/s pseudo-linear transmission systems

Transmission over one million kilometers of nonzero dispersion fiber is achieved using optical 3R regeneration. Regeneration is obtained using synchronous modulation combined with 2R regeneration using self-phase modulation in highly nonlinear fiber and subsequent filtering.
