Summary: | A possibility is presented to realize left-handed planar substrates for microstrip applications. For this purpose the known split ring resonator based structure is adapted to a multilayer PCB process. The influence of metallic and dielectric losses on the transmission properties of the structure is analyzed employing a commercial EM simulation tool. A circuit model is derived based on standard microstrip components. The used simulation approaches are validated with experimental data. |
