description With the shift towards outcomes based accreditation, it is imperative that engineering courses develop their outcomes within students, and not just assess if students possess them. Many attempts have been made to integrate this development within capstone design projects with varying degrees of success. It was found that using a tailored systems engineering process increased the possibility that students developed desired outcomes within their design experience. A set of hybrid attributes was developed by comparing and mapping the ABET program outcomes and the Institution of Engineers Australia's graduate attributes. The tailored systems engineering process was then compared to each hybrid attribute to determine how the process developed that attribute within students.
