description This paper studied the transient behavior of switched reluctance motor drive system (SRD), as its two phases of windings are short circuit. First, this paper analyzed (SRD)'s transient behavior; then, this paper established (SRD)'s nonlinear dynamic model, made a simulation software, and simulated (SRD)'s dynamic performance. The dynamic model and the simulation software were tested and verified by comparing the simulated result with the experiment result. On the basis of these, this paper simulated (SRD)'s transient performance as its two phases of windings are short-circuit, and the conclusion was got. The conclusion will be a foundation for short-circuit protection of SRD.
