Description
Summary:The VLSI implementation of a sound movement system is described, which is dedicated to embedded applications. This system is based on a low cost 3D sound localization method, where feature extraction of the head-related transfer function is attempted in order to realize the sound movement at all positions in 3D space by means of an efficient coefficient storing scheme. The proposed system can be implemented by only 30,000 gates, which is small enough for embedded applications. Moreover, a prototype system is constructed by using an FPGA board and subjective tests are performed to evaluate the practicability of the proposed 3D sound movement system.
