Description
Summary:We have developed a novel current mode multi-level simultaneous bidirectional I/O scheme for high throughput chip-to-chip communications. Data are represented by multi-level currents on the transmission line instead of multi-level voltages. The current mode scheme consumes less power and is faster by reducing the voltage swing on the transmission line. Simulations based on 0.18 /spl mu/m CMOS SPICE parameters show that the data rate is as high as 4 Gb/s/pin, and the power consumption is only 34 mW.
