Summary: | Based on the electromagnetic force data from Part 1 of this study, deformation and stress analysis of discs in the HV winding is performed using the finite element method. The deformation and the von Mises equivalent stress of different discs in the HV winding are evaluated. Comparison shows that the deformation patterns between winding discs are different and the maximum equivalent stress occurs in the disc at the end of the HV winding. Since the windings endure dynamic forces during short circuit faults, the natural frequencies and the modes of HV winding under particular constraints are given by solving the generalized eigenvalue problem. The dynamic effects on winding discs are estimated. |
