Description
Summary:This paper advances the state of the art for the new and promising short-range telecommunications standard: ultra wideband. A major stumbling blocks here is the design of efficient, easy-to-generate pulses that are loyal to the FCC spectral mask. A new waveform, the triangle-enveloped sinusoidal monocycle, that simultaneously fulfils these criteria, is proposed and analyzed. It compares very favorably to today's most popular UWB pulse, the Gaussian monocycle. Furthermore, a new solution for the generation of this pulse is described. It utilizes easily-realizable components (integrator, multiplier, oscillator), and evinces simplicity, ease of implementation and higher capacity for system-level integration
